Alpha

We are running an Alpha Course in our new building, 216 Acton High Street, starting on Tuesday 1 March.

I remember way back in 1999, my flatmate mentioning the Alpha Course to me and I thought – I don’t really fancy doing some course. Reminded me of study and essays and hard work. But she then said ‘I’m doing this Alpha thing want to join me?’ and for some reason I said ‘yes’, probably as she was going too. When I got there, I found friendly people who really wanted to get to know me and listen to me, great food, an interesting talk and an opportunity to chew over and chat about what I thought about the talk. No essays, no homework, just easy going chat!

Alpha became the highlight of my week and I went home buzzing with all I was learning. The stuff I learnt on Alpha and the relationships I made changed my life.

Come along to the first night and see what you think.

If you are planning to come, email me through the staff page so we can cater for you.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Market CHURCH

Hello Marketeers

Incarnation or old decoration?
God came and moved in next door to you, he wants to be your neighbour (and much more of course) this is what it means that Jesus was born.
But sometimes the church is more like that decoration that was once beautiful but is now in the corner of the loft somewhere.
The church is called to be the body of Jesus, to be the best neighbour ever (and much more of course).

We love Acton Market as our neighbour and we are helping celebrate Christmas with them!
On Saturday December 18th there will be lots going on from 10.30-3pm… the Acton Christmas Fayre….from a live and unrehearsed nativity to Twyford Gospel Choir performing some tasty treats…

We need you to be more than a decoration!
You can volunteer in what Oaktree are giving…

We will be running the stall giving out free tea, coffee and mulled juice all day
(you can do a shift, 10-12pm or 12-2pm, or 2-3pm!)

We will be giving away free mince pies during carols 10.30-11.30am & 2-3pm
(you can come and give an hour walking around with a tray of pies!)

We will be organising the live and unrehearsed nativity 1pm
(you can bring the kids dressed as any nativity character and they can get involved)

We will be running three kids craft tables decorating cup-cakes, colouring in and decorating take-away bags
(you can volunteer to help anytime from 11-1 and 1-3pm!)

And through this we’ll be telling of Jesus birth in public, celebrating his amazing life and blessing Acton massively!!

Come and join the fun.

Market this week… 13th November 2010

Earlier in the year Nokia hung the world’s biggest signpost from a crane at Tower Bridge.
The sign itself was taller than 2 double decker buses, weighed 60 tons and hung 50m in the air!
Big.
At the market stall we often have to learn to be a signpost…
This is where the closest free meal is (St. John’s Ealing on a Saturday lunchtime).
This is where Emmaus House is (they can give you advice on housing and free clothing, and a lunch monday-friday).
This is a leaflet about DAIS (they can help you with advice and guidance on drugs and alcohol).
This is the number for Alcoholics Anonymous (they have helped thousands of people beat addiction).
This is Christians Against Poverty (they help people get out of debt, I’m a befriender in fact - Befriender Training tomorrow 8pm@Willis’s).
This is our church (we love Acton and you are welcome to come to our Sunday service, it is at 4.30pm, Twyford School).
This is me, I am a Christian who is just trying to follow Jesus.
This is a story about a prayer getting answered, can I pray for you?
This is Jesus.
Lord will you help and bless this person.
Jesus operated in this way, he showed people where the Kingdom of God was breaking out.
He showed the lost children where to find their Father and he still does the same today.

We do not have the means to solve everyones problems.
But we can be really good signposts.

THIS WEEK:

10-12: 2 spaces
12-2: 3 spaces
Can’t do a whole shift? Why not give 30 minutes? Anyone who wants to not serve drinks but chat and pray with people is always welcome.
