Oak Tree Worship

At the heart of the Christian faith is the belief that God – the God of creation, the God of power and holiness – longs to be in relationship with us ("For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight" – Ephesians 1:4). Because of Jesus’ death on the cross, we can approach God with freedom and confidence, not out of a sense of duty or out of a need to appease an angry God, but out of gratitude and awe at all that He has done, of all that He is and of all that He will do. This, then, can be the basis of all that we are and do as Christians.

Worship is simply a response to God – a response to His majesty, faithfulness, holiness, tenderness and grace. Paul wrote to the church in Rome nearly 2000 years ago that we are to take our ordinary, everyday lives and place them before God as an offering (Romans 12:1), so worship in its fullest sense is just that. However, when we as a church gather together as a group of people, a different dynamic is happening, and we are seeking to reflect something of God’s quality and attributes back to Him and to experience the presence of God.

It’s all about connection. We seek to connect with God through the songs we sing in order to give Him the glory He’s due, but also to begin to be transformed by coming into His presence. It’s a two way process. As we worship we’re seeking to engage with our minds, our hearts and our spirits, by proclaiming eternal truths about God and by expressing our feelings about Him.

The church has a rich history of amazing music, and although our style is contemporary, we look to use the best of the old and the best of the new music that’s out there.

Come and experience the presence of God!
