Messy Church is a fun child-friendly worship time for carers, parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles and children of all ages.
It happens once a month on a Thursday. Please check our next dates on the events calendar.
Messy Church at Oak Tree started in May 2015 and already counts many faithful members and visitors each month.
Messy Church is considered a congregation on its own right. Being especially aimed at primary school age children and their families, we set out to make disciples of Jesus in creative ways, teaching the Gospel through activities, crafts, stories, plays, dance, worship music, prayer, fun and by sharing a meal.
You are very welcome to come and bring family and friends along!
What is Messy Church?
Messy Church is an all age family and children christian worship service. Like the name says, we do messy, craft activities that we don’t normally do on a Sunday Service:
- is a way of being church for families involving fun
- is found across the world
- values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration
Who can come to Messy Church?
Families with children of any age. Parents and children. Carers and children. Grandparents with kids.
How long is the session?
We start register at 3.45pm and finish the session at 6.00pm. Some special services may take a bit longer.
What information do I need to give on the register?
For safeguarding and Child Protection purposes, the Church of England requires everyone to register the name of parent/carer, name of child, address and contact number.
What activities are there?
We start with some games, bouncy castle, then do crafts, children’s worship music, a bible story or theme and finish off by having a meal together.
What if I’m not a Christian?
Messy Church is open to anyone who wants to explore and know more about the Christian faith, with no strings attached.
