I think that some people should give a vague hint of who they are as I have no idea who is on this due to their odd choice of names.

I know what you mean Victoria but I think we’ll figure it out as we go along. There’s only one person I haven’t worked out yet because of a strange name! It’s hard because anyone can come in and read this stuff.

Rufus needs to consider that perhaps Lionchaser doesn’t have internet access at work hence the delay in posting! Plus I don’t have anything very interesting to add at the moment. Except that this is my first ever post on a forum so I hope I’ve done it right!!

I think if we want this site to help foster community, it wouldhelp if newcomers (to OTAF and to the site) could find out who was who easily. Maybe have a profile you could click on, giving their real name (or at least first name) and some ‘fascinating facts’.
Otherwise it gets cliquey and too full of in-jokes.
everyone who signs up’s real name - perhaps people could email him if they need to know who a particular person is. I don’t know… I don’t think we should get into having too much of our personal info online for the whole world to access! Although I realise that’s not exactly what you’re suggesting Gillh!
Sure - but at least the person’s real first name might be helpful.
On Ship of Fools, which I’m on, we have a ‘profile’ which you can put a few items about yourself in if you like - where you’re from, what denomination you are, space for a few lines about yourself. Obviously we’re all from Acton and all Anglican (sorta) but you get the idea.
I’ll look into it - see whether I can put something on to allow this

I’ve just added some extra fields where you can submit a bit of personal information. This is now default for new user registrations. If you’ve already registered you can go to “my account -> edit -> personal information”
If you think of any other bits to add then let me know.
