As the Bible says, “Come unto me all who are heavy laden …”

The ‘Freecycle Day’ at the market in November was a great success, and they will be running them once a month from now on.

I will be doing the 26 Jan one, and if anyone else wants to come and help for a little while they would be welcome.

It’s a great opportunity to get rid of your clutter (no furniture or electrical items, and please ensure things are in a useable state). Bring anything you don’t want, leave it on the table and watch it disappear! And meanwhile, you might find yourself something you really need. One person’s unwanted Christmas present is another person’s number one on the wishlist…

It’s also a good way to meet people and chat. Many people are touched by the idea that something is being given away free, and it seems to unlock their tongues!

As before, the stall will run from 12.30 to 3.30.

Please do consider supporting this - if you don’t have anything to give, then just drop by and say hello, and see if there’s anything you need.

Fantastic - I already have a pile of items for the stall.

I won’t be here so won’t be able to help but would love lend a hand in future months.

Very exciting. No excuses for us now. Unfortunately I’ll be away 26th Jan but would love to help next month. Will try and get other half to drop off half the contents of our house! I wonder if we ought to have “We hear W3” baseball caps or something when we’re doing this stuff. Locals will get to know it’s us more quickly and that it’s in Jesus’ name we’re doing it.

The Give and Take Day is organised by Action Acton, so it’s not an Oaktree thing. I wouldn’t want to wear one of the baseball caps in case it gave the impression that it was an Oaktree venture. (Well, that and the fact that I look awful in baseball caps…)

I think it’s really important for us to be involved in good stuff that’s already going on, as well as organising things ourselves. Spreading out that salt!

Bumping this up to remind people it’s tomorrow afternoon. Do drop by and say hello, and see if there is anything on the stall you fancy. 12.30 - 3.30.

Mon, 18/02/2008 - 10:03 :: Nextt one is on Saturday

Just a reminder that the next Give or Take Day is Saturday from 12.30 - 3.30. Please drop by and say hello (and bring me a coffee if it’s as cold as today!) You don’t have to bring anything- please do have a browse and see if there’s anything you need. I am finding it more difficult to persuade people to take things than bring things - there is a natural distrust of free stuff.

I’ll try and drop in, though I don’t need anything!
Will try to bring something!
Hopefully it won’t be as cold as yesterday - I went for a cycle ride along the canal and the canal was frozen - and it was 3pm! (chucked a stick onto it to check it was frozen as I didn’t believe it and it sat nicely on the top!

Maybe people re enjoying the ‘de-clutter’ sensation and so are keen not to just replace it with more stuff….

I realise that is not the spirit of the event….but perhaps that’s another reason.
