Submitted by gillh on Fri, 24/11/2006 - 22:55. :: Local Acton information

I see from actonw3.com that there will be a Farmer’s Market in Acton on the Mount (outside Morrison’s) on Saturday 2 December. Sunday 3 December will be the official launch of all the new stuff which is happening in the area.

If there’s enough support for the Farmer’s Market, they might think about making it a regular occurrence. The one in West Ealing is great but I can’t get there often (time/budget constraints!)

Subject line and the other half in the comments box. If is quite frustrating to read. Smiling

Spending Christmas day in your bikini is not uncommon. Some vicars do it. Eye-wink

Be thankful that we do not have a service at Oaktree on Chrismas Morning!!!!! Jawdropping!

Fri, 08/12/2006 - 13:32 :: So did anyone go?

We didn’t buy much, as we were on our way out for the day, but we had a gorgeous brunch of 3 (yep, 3) excellent quality sausages in a bun, with onions and ketchup, which kept us going. And a lovely squidgy brownie to follow (not the junior girl guide sort, the cake sort!)

We ticked the poster which asked whether people wanted the Farmer’s Market back - and we certainly weren’t alone.

The craft market on Sunday was also interesting, though I didn’t buy much. But I did manage to get my Traidcraft chocolate Advent calendar. And since there was also a butcher there (for some odd reason!) I got a nice ham hock which tomorrow morning will become pea and ham soup for our lunch.

Wed, 24/01/2007 - 09:53 :: Update on the farmer's market

The farmer’s market is due to start in Acton in March.

Today and for the next few Wednesdays, Action Acton will be out on the Mount (outside Morrisons) finding out what people want. So grab your chance, get down there and make your views known! They are there from 2pm - 4pm.

For myself, I think it could be a great thing for Acton - the fruit and veg are often cheaper than in the supermarket and waaaaaay nicer, particularly when you can chat to the farmer who grew it as you pay!

Meat can be expensive, although you do get what you pay for. But there is a stall in the West Ealing farmer’s market called Boarstall who are great value. They do multipack deals on steaks, chops, chicken breasts, mince and so on, so you can fill your freezer. And they often knock money off if it’s towards the end of the morning and they want to clear their stall.

They weren’t there last time, so I shall be asking Action Acton if they plan to invite them. Some of the other West Ealing regulars were there, including Food Fore Thought, whose meat is gorgeous but definitely a luxury treat rather than a weekly staple for my income!
