Christians Against Poverty works in partnership with local churches to bring their award winning debt counseling services to local people.
At OakTree, we partner with CAP to run the Acton CAP Centre, serving people in the local community who are weighed down by debt.
CAP offers hope and a solution to anyone in debt through its unique, in-depth service.
CAP aims to show God’s love in action by providing sustainable poverty relief through debt counseling, advice and practical help. CAP’s unique ‘hands on’ approach empowers people to help themselves out of poverty and be released from the fear, oppression and worry generated by overwhelming debts. We are providing sustainable poverty relief as our service teaches clients vital budgeting skills that will last a lifetime.
The Acton CAP Centre is run by Centre Manager Ruth Robinson and supported by many volunteers at OakTree.
There are loads of ways that people can volunteer with CAP to make a real difference including:
- Visit team – eg going on visits to clients with the Centre Manager or Debt Coach
- Prayer team – eg praying for urgent needs sent via text/email
- Social team – eg helping at a client social event
- Blessing team – eg taking a client for an emergency food shop or helping to organise Christmas food hampers.
Your help could be a one-off or ongoing support. Do contact Ruth for more information.
