Earlier in the year Nokia hung the world’s biggest signpost from a crane at Tower Bridge.
The sign itself was taller than 2 double decker buses, weighed 60 tons and hung 50m in the air!
Big.
At the market stall we often have to learn to be a signpost…
This is where the closest free meal is (St. John’s Ealing on a Saturday lunchtime).
This is where Emmaus House is (they can give you advice on housing and free clothing, and a lunch monday-friday).
This is a leaflet about DAIS (they can help you with advice and guidance on drugs and alcohol).
This is the number for Alcoholics Anonymous (they have helped thousands of people beat addiction).
This is Christians Against Poverty (they help people get out of debt, I’m a befriender in fact - Befriender Training tomorrow 8pm@Willis’s).
This is our church (we love Acton and you are welcome to come to our Sunday service, it is at 4.30pm, Twyford School).
This is me, I am a Christian who is just trying to follow Jesus.
This is a story about a prayer getting answered, can I pray for you?
This is Jesus.
Lord will you help and bless this person.
Jesus operated in this way, he showed people where the Kingdom of God was breaking out.
He showed the lost children where to find their Father and he still does the same today.

We do not have the means to solve everyones problems.
But we can be really good signposts.

Fireworks

When God speaks it’s like fireworks go off.
Darkness gets made beautiful with light.

Just look at creation…. God says: ‘Let there be light’ and there was the beginning of the universe!
When we pray for someone or listen to God for someone we give God opportunity to speak to that person.
And when God speaks, stuff happens!
Last week at the the stall the team prayed with someone and gave a prophetic word to someone else (ask Ruth Robinson!).
When they did this I think some fireworks went off in those peoples lives.
Any darkness was being made beautiful with Gods light.
This is exciting stuff, with the ability to pray and prophecy, we are walking around with fireworks in our hands.

We see hope in Acton

WE SEE HOPE IN ACTON

because God sees hope in you.

Have you ever seen something and thought, who would say something like that? What do they mean?!

We see hope in Acton because we have experienced something in our lives that has overcome our disillusionment with life.

We see hope in Acton because we believe in the God who sent his son into a specific situation at a specific time.

This son did not come putting his hopes into politics or money, he planted his hope in human beings; and not just any human beings…it was the down and outs, the rough and ready, the taxman, the prostitute, the fisherman.

Our experience is that he is far better than society, far better than any substance, far greater than any addiction, not phased by any illness or death, he is Jesus.

We think that Jesus is the loudest way God could say to you and me; “I see hope in you!”

Isn’t it worth trying to meet the one whose whole life is given to you (yes you!) so you could know who made you?

Isn’t it worth trying to ask the one whose life was taken for you, what hope could I bring to the world?

As a local church in Acton we want to ask these kinds of questions.

We want to open a space where you can ask God about the hope he promises.

We see hope in Acton, because God sees hope in you.

From February 6th 2011 you can find us at

216 High Street,

Acton W3, London.

(where the banner is pinned!)

You can also find us NOW each Sunday, 4.30pm at Twyford School or

every Saturday 10-2pm at Acton Market serving free tea and coffee.
