Assistant to J.John

An exciting opportunity exists within the Philo Trust, commencing September 2008, for an Assistant to J.John.

The principal task is assisting J.John with the ministry he undertakes, driving him to events throughout the UK and serving as his Assistant. Each event varies in its scope, length, audience and purpose. At each event, the Assistant will help J.John, work alongside the organisers to ensure that the event runs smoothly and on occasion will also run or oversee our ministry bookstall.

When not supporting J.John at events, the Assistant is office-based and his responsibilities then include booking travel tickets, planning best routes to engagements, researching material and assisting J.John’s PA with the organisation and administration involved in preparation for missions and meetings.

The applicant appointed must be a warm individual who is willing to work hard in a supporting role, and will suit someone seeking to gain an in-depth insight into a mission-focussed ministry. The opportunity exists for the role to expand and develop for the right person.

Given the diversity of ministry events which J.John speaks at and that the Assistant will be with him in a supportive role, the Assistant will need excellent interpersonal skills, be well-organised and have a mature and sensitive attitude. He will have the ability to cope with a varied and demanding workload with extensive travel within the UK and overseas, with the accompanying irregular working hours. It is necessary that the Assistant holds a full driving licence.

This post is initially offered on an eleven month fixed-term contract commencing September 2008.
